Security

6 ways to prevent bank account from ATM skimming

Prioritize using ATMs inside secured lobbies or just visit bank counter in case of withdrawal large amount.

Check for obvious signs of ATM tampering. If there are abnormal points (in colors, materials, patterns ...), do not use that ATM.

Even if you cannot see any visual differences, try to shake and wiggle everything, especially card reader. ATMs are solidly constructed and generally don’t have any jiggling or loose parts.

Hidden cameras are disguised so they can pick up your password. Use your hand to cover your password when doing transactions at ATMs.

Be careful when you hand your card to employees especially at restaurants, bars, convenience stores and so on, especially at unfrequented places to avoid card data being skimmed.

Pay attention to bank’s SMSs and keep an eye on your bank accounts regularly for signs of fraudulent. Immediately notify the bank when a transaction is not made by you.

Immediately contact UOB Vietnam via hotline 24/7 1800 599 921 (Local) or +84 28 3898 9999 (Overseas) to lock the card when it is lost or when you receive a message notifying the transaction you did not make or any other signs of card information disclosure.
