UOB Vietnam commitment to support local enterprise

    On 11 October 2022, UOB Vietnam (UOBV) and Economic Department of District 4 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore deeper collaboration and expand the connection of the SME community.

    In particular, UOB Vietnam is committed to continuing create comprehensive and effective financial solutions as well as innovative and practical products to better serve the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) community.

    The contribution of Small and Medium Enterprises to the country's economy is significant. According to the Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, there are about 800,000 operating businesses in Vietnam, of which SMEs account for 97%, employ nearly half of the total workforce and contribute 45% to GDP (refer to data in March 2022). Hence, it is an important community that both UOB Vietnam and Economic Department of District 4 need to support, so that this type of business could develop sustainably.

    Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Thai Duy, Chairman of the Business Association of District 4 shared, “Enterprises in the district will continually enhance the spirit of enterprises, creativity, responsibility and commit to build sustainable businesses, contribute our strength to enhance the spirit of cooperation, solidarity and support each other to develop in the business community".

    Attending the ceremony and praising businessmen in District 4 on the occasion of Vietnamese Entrepreneurs’ Day, Mrs. Nguyen Thi My Hanh, a representative of District 4 People's Committee affirmed: "With the awareness of the district authorities, the effort, solidarity, intelligence of the businessmen in District 4, I firmly believe that the business community of District 4 will further building on their achievements, contributing to the socio-economic development of District 4 in particular as well as Ho Chi Minh City in general”.

    To help ASEAN SMEs gain insight into the strategies taken by their peers, UOB, Accenture and Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) have collaborated on the ASEAN SME Transformation Study. The insights, concluded in Q1 2022, capture the sentiments of 1,500 SMEs across five key ASEAN markets – Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.
