Saigon Children’s Charity: the beneficiary of the 2018 UOBV Heartbeat Run/Walk

Saigon Children’s Charity CIO (SCC) was the beneficiary of the inaugural UOB Heartbeat Run/Walk in Vietnam. More than 400 colleagues and their families participated in the Run/Walk in Ho Chi Minh City on 8 July 2018. The event raised more than VND200 million that will go towards helping underprivileged children from the Tien Giang Province in southern Vietnam, under the supervision of SCC. One of the fundraising aims is to provide the children with bicycles to help them make the long ride to and from school every day so that they have more time and energy to focus on their schoolwork.

SCC was founded in 1992 to help disadvantaged children in Vietnam obtain an education and a fairer start in life. They work exclusively in Vietnam and are committed to overcoming any barriers to education the children may face such as poverty, geography or disability.

The charity’s programmes aim to help these children through education and training. SCC believes that all children should have the right to fulfill their potential and that a measured amount of carefully targeted help can make all the difference. They count their success in the number of children who attend and graduate from school, those who go on to university and those who find successful employment after graduation.

The money raised at the 2018 UOBV Heartbeat Run/Walk will be donated to underprivileged children from southern Vietnam. One of the goals is to provide bicycles to help the children ride to and from school.
