UOB Vietnam (UOBV) hosted a graduation ceremony on 27 February 2019 for 30 UOBV Business Banking colleagues who graduated from the UOB-Foreign Trade University (FTU) Banker’s Executive Certificate Programme. This is the second time UOBV collaborated with FTU to roll-out this programme.

UOBV and FTU launched the programme in October 2017 to provide Business Banking colleagues with the specialist skills required to support the growth ambitions of small businesses in Vietnam as they tap regional opportunities. Over three months, participants went through classroom-based study in the areas of credit and risk management, trade financing and regional regulatory frameworks, as well as skills training in areas such as customer service.

The UOB-FTU Banker’s Executive Certificate Programme is part of UOB’s career development programme to nurture local talent through continuous training and skills development. It is also in line with the Bank’s long-term commitment to support Vietnam's economy and the development of its banking industry.

Mr Fred Lim, Country Head of Retail Banking, UOB Vietnam, in congratulating the pioneer batch of graduates said, “The UOB-FTU Banker’s Executive Certificate Programme enables our bankers to develop specialist skills they will need to support our SME clients’ growth. The programme is the continued commitment of UOBV to the development of the country’s banking industry. We take part in nurturing the next generation of bankers who are more capable, more professional in handling financial demands and situations of our SME clients.”

Ms Vu Thi Phuong Anh, a UOBV Business Banking colleague and graduate from the programme said, “The modules were very insightful, especially the sharing sessions from business owners. These sessions helped us to understand the problems that small businesses in Vietnam are facing. The lecturers also shared valuable knowledge about banking products and services, which equipped us with the skills to provide the right solutions to our clients. I will apply what I have learnt into my daily work practices to improve my productivity.”
