Opening remarks by Mr Jason Yeo, Head of Channels & Digitalisation cum Hanoi Branch Director, UOB Vietnam
The SFF x SWITCH roadshow in Ho Chi Minh City—organised by UOB Vietnam (UOBV) and MAS—saw over 100 participants comprising UOBV customers, innovators and technologists from FinTech start-ups and SMEs gracing the event.
Mr Jason Yeo, UOBV’s Head of Channels & Digitalisation and Hanoi Branch Director, reinforced the importance of collaboration between the FinTech ecosystems in each ASEAN country and the support of UOBV to the FinTech/tech community.
Mr. Damien Pang, Deputy Chief FinTech Officer, MAS, then shared about “Building a Sustainable FinTech Ecosystem in ASEAN”, which includes:
- Matching capital to venture
- Matching solutions to problems
- Matching the future to the present
The ‘FinTech Opportunities in ASEAN’ panel led by moderator Vo Tan Long (PwC), Mr Tuan Anh Nguyen (Head of Grab Financial Group Vietnam), Mr Damien Pang (Deputy Chief FinTech Officer, MAS), Mr Fred Lim (Country Head of Retail Banking, UOB Vietnam), and Mr Jian Min Sim (CEO and Cofounder, SourceSage)
Two insightful discussion sessions covered scene-setting in innovation and FinTech opportunities in ASEAN. The panel discussion closed with tips on how to seize opportunities for start-ups in ASEAN.
